Our Design Process
Developing Your Vision

Initial Consultation

Our introductory meeting will focus on your garden objectives. We seek to understand how you live, relax and play. Measurements of your property are recorded and photographs taken. Our initial consultations are free of charge.

After our initial visit we will review your objectives and follow up with one or more Concept Drawings taking into account your needs, taste, life style and vision. This is the first draft of your garden design. Here ideas are explained in more detail, we help you finalize your budget, and adjustments are made as we proceed. Our design goal is to help you realize your vision, adhering closely to a realistic budget.

At this stage, you are under no obligation to continue with the garden design and construction process with Planned Environments. If our ideas are acceptable to you, we request a small deposit as confirmation of your acceptance so we can proceed with detailed Construction Drawings. This deposit will be applied to the installation of your garden.

Construction Drawings

Subsequent visits will then be arranged to work through your requirements and ideas in much greater detail. At some sites we may need to acquire more detailed measurements including elevations, and occasionally surveys.

At this time we would finalize the Design and develop the Planting Plan. This will be unique to your garden conditions, site-specific microclimates, and your specific tastes. We use a CAD package specifically designed for Professional Garden Designers.

We meet to present your own unique garden design. We prepare for the implementation and construction phase of your garden.
